Enclomiphene Citrate – Product Information
Enclomiphene is an estrogen receptor (ER) modulator. It acts as an ER antagonist in humans, sheep, and rabbits and an ER agonist in rats. Enclomiphene inhibits the binding of 17beta-estradiol in isolated rabbit uterus. It decreases E2-induced inhibition of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion in primary sheep pituitary cells in a concentration-dependent manner.
Enclomiphene (0.25 and 0.5 mg/animal) inhibits spermatogenesis and decreases serum luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone levels in intact or castrated rats. Formulations containing enclomiphene have been used in the treatment of ovarian dysfunction.
Enclomiphene is being studied for its potential to increase serum total testosterone levels while maintaining sperm counts in the normal range in men with secondary hypogonadism.

How does Enclomiphene Citrate Work?
Enclomiphene citrate blocks estrogen from binding to receptors in the hypothalamus and increases gonadotropin release. [R]
In men, this results in increased testicular stimulation and testosterone production by increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. In women, this leads to ovulation. [R] [R]
Enclomiphene Citrate Research
Initial animal testing of enclomiphene citrate was conducted by Repros Therapeutics, this compound’s manufacturer. Later on, clinical phase II, phase IIB, and phase III studies have been carried out on this selective estrogen receptor modulator.
All these studies have shown that enclomiphene citrate effectively increases serum testosterone levels in hypogonadal men and maintains sperm counts. However, the impact of this compound on hypogonadal symptoms remains unknown. [R]
Enclomiphene Citrate and Hypogonadism
Hypogonadism is a condition in which the body doesn’t produce enough testosterone or sperm, or both. In adult males, symptoms of hypogonadism include decreased sex drive, decreased energy, and depression. Over time, hypogonadism can cause erectile dysfunction in men. [R]
In an animal study, baboons were given zuclomiphene, enclomiphene, or clomiphene for 12 days. Their serum hormone levels were measured at 0, 12, and 19 days. The study found that enclomiphene-treated baboons had a greater increase in testosterone than their clomiphene-treated counterparts. [R]
In a 2013 phase IIB human study, researchers noted a sustained increase in testosterone levels among the men in enclomiphene- and testosterone-treatment groups at three months of treatment. At follow-up, only enclomiphene treatment was associated with elevated sperm counts. [R]
A 2016 study found that oral enclomiphene nitrate raises testosterone and preserves sperm counts in obese hypogonadal men. Enclomiphene citrate treatment maintained sperm concentrations in the normal range. Topical testosterone wasn’t able to maintain sperm concentrations. [R]
Enclomiphene Citrate and Female Infertility
A randomized double-blind study was conducted to compare the effects of enclomiphene citrate (100 mg) with clomiphene citrate (100 mg) on women with unexplained infertility. It is to be noted that clomiphene citrate (Clomid) is an FDA-approved treatment for female infertility.
In terms of clinical pregnancy rate, no statistically significant difference was observed between the enclomiphene and clomiphene groups. The total number of mature follicles was significantly more in the enclomiphene group compared to clomiphene citrate. [R]

Enclomiphene Citrate FAQs
Is Enclomiphene Citrate Legal?
Enclomiphene citrate is legal to buy and sell as a research chemical.
Pure Rawz sells enclomiphene citrate for research and laboratory use only. It should only be handled by qualified professionals and shouldn’t be used for veterinary or human use. This product isn’t in a sterile solution and shouldn’t be injected.
Is Enclomiphene the Same as Clomiphene?
Enclomiphene citrate is the trans-isomer of clomiphene citrate. While the latter consists of a mixture of isomers, enclomiphene citrate is a single isomer.
Does Enclomiphene Raise Testosterone?
One animal study and multiple clinical studies have shown that enclomiphene citrate may increase testosterone levels and maintain sperm concentrations in the normal range. It may carry out gonadotropin-dependent testosterone secretion.
