What is MOTS-c?

MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome. It is expressed in various tissues, including skeletal muscle, as well as in circulation. Research shows that while plasma MOTS-c levels decline with age, muscle MOTS-C levels increase. [R]
