It is worth noting, however, that there were no changes in the relative weight of the dissected organs with Ipamorelin, while GH led to increased liver weight. This suggests that patients treated with Ipamorelin may not experience the same organomegaly as seen in GH-treated patients.

Ipamorelin and Bone Health

Ipamorelin and GH-releasing peptide-6 increased bone mineral content in adult female rats. As measured in vivo, both Ipamorelin and GHRP-6 increased total, tibial, and vertebral bone mineral content compared with the vehicle. All substances also increased the tibial area bone mineral density. [R]

In another study, Ipamorelin dose-dependently increased the longitudinal bone growth rate (LGR) in adult female rats. There was also a pronounced and dose-dependent effect on body weight gain. [R]

In vivo in an adult rate model, the ability of Ipamorelin to counteract the catabolic effects of GC on skeletal muscles and bones was investigated. A group of 8-month-old female rats was injected under the skin for 3 months with GC (methylprednisolone), GHS (Ipamorelin), or both.

In conclusion, the decrease in muscle strength and bone formation in GC-injected rats was counteracted by the simultaneous administration of the selective growth hormone secretagogue. The study supports the therapeutic use of GHSs in patients receiving glucocorticoids. [R]
