Description
DMHA – Products Information
DMHA, or dimethylhexylamine, is a central nervous system stimulant that increases the uptake of dopamine and noradrenaline. It is known under many names, including 2-amino-6-methylheptane, 2-metil-5-amino-eptano, Octodrine, Amridine, and Vaporpac.
DMHA was initially synthesized as a compound for nasal congestion. Subsequent research has shown that it can boost energy levels, enhance focus, and elevate heart rate. It has also been found to suppress pain. Almost all these effects were reported in animal studies.
PureRawz sells DMHA for laboratory and research purposes only.

What is DMHA?
Dimethylhexylamine (DMHA) is a central nervous system stimulant. It was initially synthesized in the 1950s as a drug for nasal decongestion and was briefly approved to treat the same condition. However, it is no longer approved for that or any other medical use. [R][R]
In terms of structure, DMHA presents some similarities with Ephedrine, an illegal pre-workout supplement that has been banned for any kind of use in the US. Other banned pre-workout supplements that are similar in structure to DMHA include AMP citrate and 1-3DMAA. [R]
Since its development in the 1950s, various preclinical studies have been conducted on DMHA to investigate its effects. These studies have shown that DMHA increases nasal and lung volume, and blood pressure and eliminates stationary phase E. coli. [R]
Bear in mind, though, that no placebo-controlled trial has been conducted. All the above effects were found in animal and/or cell-based studies. Speak to your medical health provider to learn more about DMHA. Pure Rawz doesn’t sell DMHA for human consumption. [R]
Types of DMHA
DMHA exists in two forms: natural and synthetic. The natural version can be found in the extracts of many trees, including walnut bark, Aconitum kusnezoffii, and Kigelia Africana. Almost all DMHA on the market (including the one sold by Pure Rawz) is synthetically produced. [R][R]
In separate animal studies, both natural and synthetic DMHA were reported to increase pain threshold. They were also shown to elevate blood pressure and contract blood vessels. The last two effects are interlinked as the contraction of blood vessels raises blood pressure. [R]
How does DMHA Work?
DMHA has the potential to increase the uptake of dopamine and noradrenaline, two brain chemicals that carry out various essential functions. For instance, dopamine plays a vital role in feelings of pleasure, as well as movement and memory. Noradrenaline controls your body’s fight or flight response. [R][R]
DMHA Research
What follows is a summary of the existing research on DMHA. Since no human trials have been conducted on DMHA, the reported effects from animal studies are summarized below. The information given in this section doesn’t constitute medical advice.
DMHA and Nasal Congestion
According to a 1950 preclinical study, DMHA exhibits the ability to increase respiratory volume in animals. Aside from DMA, two other aliphatic amines (substances that bind to trace amine-associated receptors) were studied. They, too, increased respiratory volume. [R]
Similar results were obtained from a 1951 study. This study involved an animal (a dog) that experienced increased nasal and lung volume following the administration of DMHA. Unlike the above study, this one solely explored the pharmacology and potential effects of DMHA. [R]
Two more studies (conducted in 1958 and 1960) investigated the respiratory effects of DMHA. Both reached the same conclusion regarding the effects of DMA on decongesting airways as the above two. [R][R]
DMHA and Hypotension
Hypotension, also known as low blood pressure, refers to a blood pressure under 90 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) for the top number and 60 mm/Hg for the bottom number. If untreated, it can lead to heart and brain damage. [R][R]
According to a 1974 study, DMHA, combined with three other drugs, demonstrated effects on the blood pressure of patients with hypotension. A 1951 preclinical study reported similar effects, with a dog experiencing increased blood pressure after exposure to DMHA. [R][R]
Similarly, in a 1947 study, DMHA caused an increase in cardiac rate (blood pressure) and amplitude of contraction of heart muscles in an experimental animal. Still, more research is needed to substantiate the potential effects of DMHA on hypotension. [R]
DMHA and Pain Threshold
In a preclinical study, the effects of DMHA on the central nervous system of experiment animals (rabbits, cats, dogs) were investigated. All the animals were administered DMHA in specific dosages and their responses to pain-inducing sensations were reported. [R]
The final results from the study show that DMHA demonstrated local anesthesia. This substance was found to elevate local pain threshold in experiments with animals. However, without randomized clinical trials, DMHA’s effects on pain threshold need further investigation. [R]
DMHA and E. coli bacteria
Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the most common bacteria to cause urinary tract infections, an infection that affects your bladder, urethra, and kidneys.
A 2015 study set out to explore the effects of DMHA on stationary phase E. coli. The study reported that not only did DMHA eliminate E. coli. This substance also had high anti-persister activity and killed all persisters after exposure for 5 days. [R]
Frequently Asked Questions
Is DMHA legal?
DMHA is on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substances list. The FDA hasn’t declared it illegal. But it classifies DMHA as an “unsafe food additive” and any DMAA-containing product marketed as a dietary supplement as illegal. PureRawz doesn’t sell dietary supplements.
DMAA vs. DMHA: What’s the difference?
Dimethylhexylamine (DMHA) and dimethylamylamine (DMAA) are different in one critical aspect, even though they have the same chemical structure (C7H17N), half-life (9-11 hours), and properties. DMAA is reported to be much stronger than DMHA and has attracted clinical trials too.
Does DMHA suppress appetite in subjects?
No study (preclinical or clinical) indicates that DMHA is an appetite suppressant.

Summary
Although DMHA is reportedly used in ancient Chinese herbal medicine, there is scanty evidence of this substance producing the effects attributed to it. More clinical research is needed to fully substantiate any potential effects of this research chemical.
